Info
Photographer Phil Melia, originally from St Helens in the North West of England, is now currently based in the beautiful setting of Saddleworth situated 10 miles East of Manchester. Phil started out by studying HND Photography at Salisbury College of Art from 1983 to 1986 and has been working as a commercial photographer ever since at studios in Surrey, Cambridge and Manchester.
With every commission, Phil brings with him over twenty years of professional experience encompassing a diverse wealth of experience that is applied to each and every assignment. This diverse wealth of experience, coupled with Phil’s laid back and calm nature allows his clients to feel assured and confident that the assignment will be shot how they want it (and often in additional ways they hadn’t conceived), when they want it and to a budget that they want.
When working with Creative Directors or Designers, Phil’s philosophy is to become part of the creative team and process. He sees his roll as not only a photographer, but also an image consultant and advisor. He relishes working in partnership with industry creatives in order to bring together a photographic image created with cutting edge design and typography in mind.
Currently, approximately seventy percent of Phil’s work is location based whilst the other thirty percent is split between his main studio in Saddleworth and secondary studio facilities in Manchester city centre.
Not one for standing still, in 2007 Phil added to his Associate Grade of the British Institute of Professional Photography by successfully completing a Masters Degree in International Photojournalism, Documentary and Travel Photography at The University of Bolton. This has enabled him to offer his clients a deeper level and more varied range of photography. It has also inspired him to launch a ‘Fine Art’ brand to his portfolio, offering clients a stunning collection of inspirational photography for corporate and private usage.
